'DIRT, GRIT & GRAVEL SECTORS'

9am - sunday 9th June 2024

Sweets Tea Rooms, Blakeway, Nr. Wedmore, Somerset, BS28 4UE

Our 'Challenge' ride of either approx a 70k or extend it to a 96k route. Most of you should know we have been riding this sort of nonsense for years... now of course it's generally referred to as 'Gravel'.

We're a little rougher than 'Gravel'.

You will of course know about 'proper' rides, like Paris-Roubaix, Flanders, Dirty Kanza (we know they renamed it Unbound) and European endurance rides such as Gravel Bootleggers... well this is your local version, that you can take part in without any timing chips or pressure. There is no serious climbing, just the odd little 'bergs' of course.

Dirt and gravel 'sectors' will count you through in a Paris-Roubaix style, stitched together by tarmac lanes. We spend a lot of time working on our parcour, so for every effort you make off road, there is a recovery section following. Every year we are asked what bike should I ride? Ideally a CX or Gravel bike, plenty ride on their comfortable MTBs but if you're experienced and somewhat skilled, then you will be fine on anything else with at least 28mm tyres as a minimum.

As always with us at FlanRou it's about the larks and laughs with your fellow riders. Exploring and riding places you might not know of or dare to venture.

70k or 95k routes

NO TIMING CHIPS, it's not our thing. We don't want you 'racing for the deluded' on the open road, so you can enjoy riding with your mates without any time pressures.

as always, it's a secret route... ssh

Our 'RIBINOÙ' route is always based on previous routes which you all seem to love but with tweaks and changes every year.

Physical signage is up on the course and GPS route files are emailed to entrants AFTER ONLINE ENTRY HAS CLOSED. So normally a few days BEFORE the ride. You'll also carry a brevet card and our own branded physical signage will also be up along the route.

restricted low participate numbers keeps it real nice.
